Switzerland has no statutory 13th month salary. It becomes an enforceable claim through the contract, a collective agreement or a settled practice, and the wording decides whether it is wage or a gratification.

B permit or L permit: which one your hire needs

For EU/EFTA nationals the employment contract decides: twelve months or open-ended gives a five-year B permit, three to twelve months gives an L permit that runs as long as the contract, and under three months needs only an online notification. For everyone else, the quota comes first.
